Malcolm Bruce MP arranges local veterans meetings

Gordon MP Malcolm Bruce and MSP for North East Scotland, Alison McInnes are setting up local meetings for war veterans.

Mr Bruce said, "Since I first publicised the availability of the Veteran's Badge, I have received dozens of replies and organised a successful photo call in Inverurie on Veteran's Day.

He continued, "A number of people have asked about the possibility of a veteran's association to arrange get-togethers and an exchange of experiences."

To provide an initial opportunity to meet and explore the possibility of setting up local associations Mr Bruce and Mrs McInnes are arranging a series of meetings to which veterans are invited along with friends who also qualify i.e. served in the armed forces up to 31st December 1984.

The dates and venues are as follows:

Friday 28th September 2007 10.30 am - 12.00 pm Front lounge, Kintore Arms Hotel, High St, Inverurie

Friday 28th September 2007 2.00 - 3.30 pm Conservatory, Buchan Hotel, Bridge St, Ellon

Monday 1st October 2007 2.30 - 4.00pm Function Room, Gordon Arms Hotel, Huntly

To gauge approximate numbers, Mr Bruce and Mrs McInnes would be grateful if people planning on attending would let them know by phoning 013398 89120.

If you are a resident of the Gordon constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
