Following today's announcement that the decision to end an investigation into alleged corruption in arms deals at BAE Systems was ruled as unlawful by the High Court, Malcolm Bruce, the MP for Gordon has criticised the Government for its role in the affair.
Mr Bruce who is a member of the influential House of Commons' Committees on Arms Export Controls said:
"As someone who has been campaigning for much stronger action against bribery and corruption involving British businesses, I welcome the court's decision today. It is wholly unacceptable that British businesses are able to escape investigation or prosecution."
"In this context, the Government has shown itself advertising the British legal system as being for sale. By yielding to the diplomatic and financial threats of the Saudi Government, the Government has been left exposed."
