Malcolm has expressed his disappointment at the news that no buyer has been found for the Inverurie branch of McLeish Brothers delicatessen
Malcolm Bruce the MP for Inverurie has expressed his disappointment at the news that no buyer has been found for the Inverurie branch of McLeish Brothers delicatessen, which went into administration last month.
According to reports, Glasgow firm, Peckhams has bought two of the Dundee and two Aberdeen stores and buyers have been found for all but three of the original McLeish outlets.
Mr Bruce said:
"The closure of the Inverurie McLeish's is obviously disappointing news for the staff concerned and also for the town itself. The branch was reported to be profitable and McLeish's had established itself as a popular fixture on the High Street which makes the news that no buyer has been found particularly frustrating."
He added:
"I have no doubt that Peckham's is right to see Dundee as an 'up and coming city' but I am surprised that they have not recognised Inverurie's rapid recent growth, huge potential and attraction to a growing number of retailers. I have written to the Managing Director of Peckhams to make the case for Inverurie and to urge them to reconsider their decision not to take the branch on. This is a prime location and I am sure it will soon be snapped up."
