Malcolm has sought assurances from the Stoneywood Mill parent company
Gordon MP Malcolm Bruce has sought assurances from the Stoneywood Mill parent company over the future of the Paper Mill.
Mr Bruce has written to the President of Sequana, the parent company of Arjo Wiggins following the recent announcement of 48 job cuts at the Aberdeen site.
In his letter the City MP said:
"Given the Mill's inherent strength, reputation for quality and reliability and underlying profitability I am seeking reassurance from [the parent company] that this current reduction in the workforce is designed to keep the mill viable through a downturn and that you have confidence and a commitment to the mill's key role in your company's fortunes. "
Mr Bruce met with representatives at Stoneywood last week following the announcement of the redundancies. He has offered to meet with Sequana's management to discuss Stoneywood's long-term future.
