Responding to the budget statement in the House of Commons earlier today (Wednesday) Gordon MP and former Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor, Malcolm Bruce MP said:
"The Government is spraying announcements like confetti but most of these policies will simply not deliver."
"The rise in debt announced by the Chancellor is both alarming and eye watering.
The Government is spraying announcements like confetti but most of these policies will simply not deliver.
"A permanent shift in the tax system would have a much more radical and long-lasting effect; such as a rise in the income tax threshold to £10,000 which would have given fairer and more direct support to those on lower and middle incomes."
On Oil and Gas, Mr Bruce added:
"The test of the Oil and Gas tax relief -while welcome in itself- will depend on how it is applied and whether it will extend to increase recovery from existing fields rather than being restricted to new marginal fields."
