Mr Bruce welcomed news that International Paper has had significant talks with a consortium interested in redeveloping the site
Gordon's MP Malcolm Bruce today welcomed news that International Paper has had significant talks with a consortium interested in redeveloping the site with a green energy facility.
The Inverurie MP said:
"Proposals to develop a green energy facility go back a number of years. I am pleased that this is now being used as the basis of promoting what is a prime site.
"I hope it will become the focus of any future development and that a new consortium with a forward looking agenda will take over from International Paper, who are in the process of realising their assets and leaving the area."
Mr Bruce added:
"In the meantime there are also proposals for the development of a hotel and business units which could go ahead at a faster pace.
"I have always championed the potential of the area with its access to transport links such as the railway, airport and the City Bypass, once it is completed.
"It is important that the site is developed in a way that maximises its potential not just for Inverurie but for the whole of the North East."
