Liberal Democrat MP for Gordon Malcolm Bruce has urged First Aberdeen to reconsider their decision to discontinue the No. 5 bus service from Bridge of Don to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The MP, whose constituency covers Bridge of Don, is concerned that the withdrawal of the service will leave a large number of elderly and disabled people with no alternative means of transport.
Commenting, Mr Bruce said:
"I am urging First to reconsider their decision. Since the service on the route was improved some years ago, it has been used by many of my constituents to get to appointments at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. It is also used by a good number of employees of Tesco Danestone and Asda to get to work.
"In short, this is a valuable and well-used service. I am therefore both mystified and frankly disappointed at First's intention to withdraw it, especially as no alternative routes have been put forward.
"I will be asking First to ensure that they do not make a decision that puts a large number of my constituents at a disadvantage.
