Gordon MP Malcolm Bruce has written to four local schools and organisations in his constituency to offer his congratulations following the announcement of the latest grants by the Big Lottery Fund.
The four organisations received a total of £3,390 under the Lottery fund's 2014 Communities programme. Mr Bruce wrote to congratulate members of the Aberdeenshire branch of Scottish Disability Sport, Port Elphinstone School, Drumblade Primary School and Aberdeen Amateur Athletics Club.
The grants ranged from £545 to £1000 and are awarded to organisations that are encouraging people take part and volunteer through sport and physical activity as well as using sport to bring together people from different generations. The communities programme aims to build a legacy from the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Malcolm Bruce said:
"I was extremely pleased to hear that these four projects in our constituency had received grants from the lottery. Funding like this plays a vital role in helping to improve local facilities and directly benefits the communities they serve.
"I'm sure Port Elphinstone School, Drumblade Primary School, Aberdeen Amateur Athletics Club and the Aberdeenshire branch of Scottish Disability Sport will appreciate this financial boost.
