Gordon MP's Malcolm Bruce today returned to Parliament as MPs examine what the Government should do to address the recent riots across England and to work to prevent future such events.
Commenting on the Prime Minister's address to MPs Malcolm Bruce said:
"There is no doubt that the scale, speed and senselessness of these riots has shaken many people across the country.
"I welcome the Government's commitment to working with the police, local communities and criminal justice system to restore order and the safety of the public which will also help restore our national reputation overseas."
In relation to Scotland and the First Minister's Comments on the riots he added:
"Like it or not many foreigners view the UK as one country and will not distinguish between Scotland and England in terms of riots.
"It is dangerous and divisive for Alex Salmond to play politics and be smug about "English" riots. He should instead be focusing on using his energies and office to adequately address Scotland's own difficulties including those relating to sectarian violence."
