Malcolm Bruce, Liberal Democrat MP for Gordon, is to seek a meeting with First Bus Aberdeen to discuss proposed changes to the Number 5 bus service.
The MP, whose constituency covers Bridge of Don, is concerned that a move to hourly services in the evenings will affect local residents who use the bus to visit Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, or get to work at Tesco Danestone or ASDA.
Mr Bruce said:
"We have been here before. Just over two years ago, First suggested that the Number 5 service should be discontinued. The local community rose up in impressive numbers and the proposal was seen off. On that occasion, First was prepared to listen to and act on local concerns.
"Now it is suggested that the Number 5 will be reduced to an hourly service in the evenings. This will affect local people who use the bus to get to work, or to visit relatives in ARI. The changes to staff parking at ARI make this matter particularly pertinent.
"I am seeking a meeting with First to discuss these changes, and will be asking them to ensure that they do not make a decision that disadvantages a large number of my constituents.
