Mr Bruce said:

"I have presented copies of the School Bus Safety to the Prime minister and the new Transport Secretary Lord Adonis. I expect the Prime minister to lead from the front and to face up to the responsibility he has to parents and school pupils in the North east and around the country, to improve standards on school bus safety.

"My Bill is intended to open up a national debate on school bus safety and I have asked to meet with Lord Adonis to see what measures the Department for Transport would be willing to take forward in order to address the clear gaps that exist in this area.
